Lisbon-born, world-carried. I document weddings, people, and places the way memory works — in fragments, in light, in feeling. Not poses. Presence.
I grew up in Lisbon watching light move through the old tiles and the Atlantic fog, and I never really stopped watching. I started making photographs at 20 because I couldn't explain what I was seeing — the camera became a way to point at it.
Today I work across documentary weddings, portraiture and editorial commissions. I keep the team small, the client list short, and the work personal. I shoot on a mix of digital and medium format 120 film. The goal is never perfection — it's the moment that would have gone unnoticed.
The best photographs are the ones that show people how things felt, not just how they looked. I've spent eight years trying to close that gap — and I'm still not there. That's the point.
"Marco was invisible all day — and somehow in every frame. I don't know how he does it. Our wedding album is the most treasured thing we own. We've looked at it every anniversary since."
"We hired Marco for our AW24 campaign and he brought a stillness to the images that we couldn't have briefed for. The editorial instinct is rare. The brand has had more image enquiries since that campaign than ever before."
"I'm a terrible subject — stiff, self-conscious. Marco sat with me for twenty minutes before picking up the camera. By the time he did, I'd forgotten he was there. The portraits he made are the only ones I've ever liked."
I work with a limited number of clients each season so every project gets full attention. Reach out — let's see if we're a fit.
Tell me about your project and I'll get back to you within 24 hours.
